If you are an Orange County resident, chances are you have driven by Andrei’s Conscious Cuisine at least a couple of times. It’s located smack dab in the middle of a business park in Irvine close to the 405 Freeway so it’s hard to miss. But did you know that Andrei’s specializes in sustainable dining?
The main focus of Andrei’s is incorporating locally grown and organic produce as well as naturally raised meats in all of their dishes. And if that isn’t enough to get you in the door, 100 percent of the restaurant’s profits go to the Andrei Foundation, which was created when (more…)

Okay here we go. This post was inspired by many, many questions about supposed healthy foods. In this country, the food industry has been disguising horrible unhealthy foods as healthy. They have done this in many different ways, but I think that the most despicable are the clever names that they give to food in order to make it sound okay to eat. The following is a small list of junk that poses as healthy food. However, these are all foods that you should stay away from. Some will be obvious and some (more…)

The days are getting warmer, the sun is shining brighter and your kids are getting more and more excited to spend the summer outdoors. While their little arms and legs will be running, jumping and swimming the day away, yours will be trying to keep up with their big appetites. It may be easier to stock the kitchen with gummy snacks and sugary cookies, but the healthier choice begins with a few fun snack ideas that are quick and require the help of your very own little chef.
Egg in a nest
Start the day out sunny-side-up with whole wheat toast, an egg and fun cookie cutter shapes. Your Kids can choose their own shape and cut out the center of the bread. Your helper can pour the egg into the hole of the bread, then cover and let cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the egg has set into the hole. For an over-easy egg, flip the egg and bread over and (more…)

Take a minute to reflect on the past couple of weeks; it’s very common to see stress, poor eating habits, travel and some kind of upset stomach ruining your day. With a fast-paced and chaotic lifestyle, our digestive system has no time to rest, so maybe it’s time for a change.
Probiotics are live microorganisms that can be consumed to help with health problems ranging from constipation and diarrhea, to fighting off colds and building up the immune system. These “good” bacteria are naturally found in our bodies, but sometimes, due to stress, poor diets and excessive antibiotic use, the “bad” bacteria take control.
There are many different types of probiotics, but the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria are the most common.
The Lactobacillus is used to treat (more…)

Whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo or looking for a refreshing drink to enjoy out in the sun, margaritas are the go-to drink for beautiful weather.
While the bright green concoctions you can purchase in the grocery store are simple to execute, the syrupy liquid is not the best for those who want to stay healthy while having fun. With this is mind, we searched for (and tested out) a few healthier alternatives for your favorite summer drink. Pick your favorites or share a few of your own – on the rocks or frozen?

What type of business would you create if you wanted to make a positive difference in the world, be a motivating influence on others and support charities that are dear to you? A group of friends had this very thought in mind when they created the renowned ONEHOPE Wine. What started as a business to help support a friend diagnosed with cancer, ONEHOPE has exploded across the market while transforming the typical business model. This company has proved that you can thrive, even when you donate half of all profits to charities.
Wine brings people together. Giving back will positively influence our society. Put these two together and you have an enticing blend for success!
I first learned of ONEHOPE at an anniversary party at Pure Barre in Newport Beach. The table was stacked full of wine created (more…)
